Myers is responsible for fostering credit union development and the effective delivery of financial services by small, low-income and newly chartered credit unions. Within OSCUI, Myers works to ensure the viability and successful operation of credit unions through training, technical assistance, loans and grants. Recently he served as interim CEO at Santa Cruz Community Credit Union, reorganizing the staff, redesigning the product portfolio and refocusing the credit union’s mission.

Myers has also worked as a senior fellow at the Aspen Institute and has served on numerous boards, including the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions. Well-grounded in cooperative service, Myers founded Alternatives Federal Credit Union in 1979 and led the institution until 2007. During his tenure, the credit union grew to a $50 million institution serving 8,700 mostly low-income members.
